Gastronomic Routes

The Maremma food, traditionally poor like all the recipes from Tuscany, is today characterized by the use of simple but extremely tasty and genuine ingredients, abundant in meat and particularly in the incomparable boars. The best way to get to know this gastronomy is to visit the numerous feasts in the summer that fulfil every town and village with spirit and spontaneity – do not miss the handmade ‘tortelli’ with their hare or boar sausage, the various pulse and bread soups (for example the ‘acquacotta’ soup, a typical specialty of this part of Tuscany) and, more steamed boar or mixed grill, and of course the fish specialties you can find all over the coast. To all gourmets we also recommend the possibility to discover in the zone plenty of restaurants awarded by national and international guides that will be able to widen with their proposals the spectre of potentiality of this kitchen to new nuances and combinations.

The Torribasse zone is also listed in the zone where the Morellino di Scansano wine sort is been producing – one of the best emerging Tuscan vines.
