Historical Routes
Ercole Harbor
This very antique fishermen village placed on a cape of Monte Argentario has had for centuries an inestimable strategic position. Today, though being a fashion destination, it still has the evocative character that inspired in the past Caravaggio who died exactly here, on the beaches of Feniglia on his return from the exile in Malta.

Laguna di Orbetello
This WWF park, situated between the two shores that connect the land to Argentario, represents one of the most important humid zones in Europe – a privileged stop for many protected migrating birds like cormorants, flamingos and egrets. The main activity in the zone is fishing: we suggest you visiting the fishermen cooperative of Orbetello to taste an unforgettable mullet roe or steamed eel.

Talamone
This small town, standing on a promontory faced to the sea, can boast of antique origins, since the time of the Roman Republic. Disappeared from the early Middle Ages chronicles, it reappears in the history of Tuscany when, even if just for a short period of time, it became Florence’s trade gate, acquiring richness and prestige. Its impressive fortresses, that protected the town from the pirates and from the attacks of the marine republics, still have today glamour and greatness.

Capalbio
This charming medieval town, the last one of the Tuscan Maremma, is alighted on a hill faced to the sea and dominating all the landscape in a stringent way. Surrounded by powerful walls, the town represents one of the most significant destinations in the zone. We also remind that in the period between the end of June and the beginning of July the town of Capalbio is a cinema festival host – do not miss the range of projections in the splendid small square. Visiting the marvellous park of art nearby Capalbio is recommended - The Tarocchi garden, a tribute to Bomarzo park situated in the close Maremma part of Lazio realized by the French artist Niki de Saint Phalle, who reinterpreted with twenty two sculptures the so called Tarot cards.

The inland
The whole Maremma inland, an extremely beautiful angle of the low Tuscany partially preserved from the mass tourism, is offering important historic and cultural rests – the entire Etruscan heritage is here with its antique gravity centre that preserves one of the most magnificent finds of this era. Among them we recommend Sovana, where you can visit one of the best conserved Etruscan necropolises with other numerous tombs dislocated all over the territory. Another long stop destination that it is worth is Pitigliano, built on a tuff rampart and dominated by the impressive castle of Orsini, the close Sorano and Scansano – homeland of Morellino.
We also remind you that in half an hour by car from Torribasse farmhouse you can reach the Saturnia Thermae – one of the most popular thermal locations in Italy where to enjoy hot swimming pools, SPA centre with aesthetic treatments and thermal cures.
