The Orbetello Lagoon
This WWF Nature Reserve, nestled between the two coastal strips connecting the mainland to Mount Argentario, is one of Europe’s most important wetlands. It serves as a vital stopover for many protected migratory birds, including cormorants, flamingos, and egrets.
The primary activity of the area is fishing, a tradition deeply rooted in local culture. We highly recommend visiting the Orbetello Fishermen’s Cooperative to enjoy an unforgettable tasting of bottarga (cured fish roe) or traditionally steamed eel.
